Caroline & Brian
I have to start with this, because many people have already asked if they are models: Brian and Caroline are a real couple. Hard to believe they aren't supermodels sent to me from the photography gods, I know. Well, ok, so full disclosure... Caroline did happen to be on a season of America's Next Top Model... however, on this day she was just half of this adorable duo, walking on the beach, holding hands with her tall-dark-and-handsome, Brian. So yes, they look stunning together, etc.. but what is more awesome is that they're both kind, sweet, caring people, and they're both very professionally accomplished- Brian's a savvy entrepreneur in Charleston, and Caroline, an attorney, chose to be a public defender. Brains AND beauty.
Just like every other client, they had no idea what to wear, so I asked them to just bring a bunch of stuff in their car. Can you believe what they brought?! They also agreed to make the long drive out to this location, in chilly overcast February weather, trusting in my ability to chose the best location for the shoot (I mean, this wasn't a hard decision...). I stopped by the Charleston Flower Market on the way to the shoot so I could surprise them with this super neat protea bouquet (that just happened to match PERFECTLY). Paired with ferns, ranunculus, and spray roses, the protea bouquet was the right mix of exotic edge and soft romance. I about died when the florist handed it to me. What could be more perfect for a location like Botany Bay?
This preserved beach is covered in shells, which people are not allowed to remove, and thankfully most people respect this. It's usually fairly unpopulated, as it's pretty far away from the city, and it's a bit of a walk down to the beach. I'd really love to post something about how awful it is so no one ever goes there, haha, but I just can't. This place, at least for me, was like walking into the pages of a novel... the kind you read under a cozy blanket, by a fire, on a chilly Saturday afternoon... a book you read so your mind can saunter around places surely you can only find in books, where your thoughts often wander to 'I can't believe life can be this beautiful.'
Except this place is real. And it is that beautiful.
From Brian: "Desiree is a dream to work with. She really has a gift to capture great images and is very passionate about her craft. The final images speak for themselves. If you're considering working with her to capture those important moments of life, you won't be disappointed! B"
